The lovely hill town of Oriveto, Italy!

So this sweet, little town of Oriveto is a "don't miss" if you go through Umbria. The town even provided a welcome in the way of a brass band, we thought. Oh, a funeral in the church. That's okay tourists, come on through. Very odd to be doing a tour in a church with a funeral going on. The town was lovely, but it was a twisty and turny road to get there. Amanda didn't know if she was going to make it to the top. You see after the bus dropped us off we had to then take a funicular and then a shuttle to the top. The side walls of the church reminded me of "Beatle Juice" for some reason. I have never seen a church like this one. Great fun! Amanda made it by the way.

A day trip to Assisi ~

On Saturday, our last day in Europe, Amanda and I took a day trip to see Assisi and Oriveto. The columns above are over 2,000 years old. Amanda fell in love with a pair of Italian sandals and who wouldn't? We had a great day. Here are some photos from this part of the trip. More coming as I can get to them.

Sister sewing weekend PLUS Brittany Spears

"Sew" - Marci came down this weekend. "Sew", she, Kayleen and I we went to the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey for two nights and three days of sewing, walking the Venice canals, sewing, eating, sewing and watching Brittany Spears and the paparazzi! Notice the black drape that was put up to block the cameramen from their work. She wanted to be notice though. Notice when she walks into the hotel, her friend is covered up, but not Brittany. But enough about the "diva." The sewing was very fun! We learned a lot from Kayleen - thank you KK! We had lovely weather and it was just a great weekend. Thanks Marci for coming down. My new sewing project- jellyrolls!

I just love my jellyrolls - fabric strips that is. I made this purse in San Diego. Very fun and quite a learning too! I also made an apron and a little clutch purse from the same jellyroll!

 

A new addition to our house -

I recently purchased Allen a hammock swing - okay, I had selfish motives here too! I knew he would share it. Poor guy hasn't had a chance to sit in it yet - I love it! So relaxing! I can fit in it like a full hammock (Allen can't do that) By the way, I am reading the paper, not advertising that we have rooms for $24.95.

 

Pebble Beach & Carmel, etc.

So we drove around on the beautiful 17 mile drive and ended up in Pebble Beach (of course we did.) We walked around the course and watched people play. It is truly a gorgeous course - it should be at $500 a round. We had to keep wiping the boys chins off as they wanted to play so badly. They have both played this course before a couple of times. The next day they were suppose to play another course but it was socked in with fog, so they played Rancho Canada - 36 holes. The last nine holes got a little chilly. I am glad I wasn't playing. The other shots that are not golf are in Carmel. I love the little table and chair shot, isn't it inviting? Also the beach chairs on the beach was taken at Carmel. Kayleen and I walked around Carmel all day. We can't figure out how that town survives with the amount of art and jewelry studios that there are there. Had a great Mom and Dad memory while I was there. Then we had to come home. Thanks Kayleen and Vince for being such good friends. Thanks Vince for driving too!
