Hey, my hotel challenged three other hotels in a game of beach volleyball last night in Hermosa Beach. I was going to just go support the team, but they threw me in. I played very well. When I served, I served 10 straight with three of them being ace serves. The next time I got up to serve I served 8 straight. My team was very impressed and I was stunned. I had a nice little hook on the serve that would go to the left and land right at the line. It was cool.
I didn't get hurt or come home miserable. I haven't played volleyball since high school 200 years ago. I don't think I have ever played beach volleyball - can someone remind me if I have.
By the way, our team slaughtered the other hotels, it was sad.
I want to get another team out there and play - I loved it! It was great exercise too! Where is Joanne Waddell when I need her?

I hope I can do this when I am 90!
That crazy Mom of mine and your silly Grandma! This photo was on her 90th birthday! I can't do this now - how depressing! I am glad in my heart that the hurt of losing her has diminished some. I don't ache for Mom like I did. I miss her dearly and I am so thankful for the funny photos I have of her to remind me that I am a nut that came from a nut and I have given birth to a bunch of nuts! Hard to believe that she has been gone two years already. I miss ya Dod! I know you must be so proud of all of us!
Hoot man to ye!

My new favorite author - Stephenie Meyer

" Twilight" is the first book and "New Moon" is the one I am finishing up right now. I had heard from several people, including my grand-daughter, Emma, that these were good books. She was right, but I have to say I think they are great books. So captivating. I had heard from Dana and Marissa about them as well. I am ready for the third one and I have purchased the fourth. There is the movie "Twilight" coming out soon. I guess I was the last one to know. By the way, there is no swearing and no sex (so far) in these books. I had heard it was about a vampire and I kind of turned my nose up. It is a turn on Romeo and Juliet.
Great reading for teenagers! I have been sitting in my car at lunch to read! Borrow them from someone. Here is the link to Stephenie Meyer -

A little LA history
I had taken Sean, Robbie and Brittiany on this years ago and the following week it crashed and killed a woman and it has been closed ever since. Very sad! I wish they still had the cable car there just for photography purposes at least.
Across the street is the Grand Central Market and it is a kick! Open market with everything you could ever want.
China 2008
Anyway, so we went to China Town this past weekend with Vince and Kayleen on a "stay-cation". This is a vacation in your own city. I highly recommend getting out and visiting where you live. I felt like I had left the country. It was great fun!
We also taught Kayleen and Vince how to use the Metro system as they had not taken it before. They were very impressed. I love the Metro!
We walked through the train station and across the street to Olvera Street and then the next street over is China Town. We had Chinese food for lunch. What a fun way to spend the day!
Vince and Kayleen saw some other things they would like to go to another time - yeah!
Bring on the Games
