Our State Fair is the best state fair.......

Interesting to attend a State Fair as an adult. The things you used to hate your Mom dragging you around to are now so interesting - quilting and canning. Good to know kids - one day it will be interesting to you too! To get so excited about how some lady stacked her carrots in a jar, go figure. The quilt below was my favorite. There is a lot of work in that piece. Greatly appreciated now! Whew!

The Hamson Kids plus 2

Had a great visit with my siblings, Becky and Larry this past weekend. We played Wii and it was "a wee bit o' fun!"

"Beets" me ~ Pickled beets that is

Look what the Allred farmers grew and canned - beets. We canned these this morning. We LOVE pickled beets. Beets are so expensive that Allen planted the seeds and we harvested last night. What fun this was to do together. Yum!

It's a boy - Simon Ellis Johnson

Okay, so I did these photos completely backwards in time element, but hey, I have jet lag! I am using that excuse all this week at least. So, here is the newest member of our family - Simon Ellis Johnson. The Ellis name is Rick's Grandma's maiden name. Simon weighed 8 lbs. and 7 oz. and was 20 1/2" long. He was born on Wednesday, September 2nd. Piper thinks that Simon is "beautiful" and she is a great big sister to her little baby. Very sweet with him. Congratulations to Misty and Rick. Sorry I had to beat you at cards at least one time while I was there. Unfortunately I had jet lag there too or it would have been more (tee hee). Love you all!
